OTHER ANIMALS

Swiss Valais Blacknose Sheep

The Valais Blacknose sheep is a breed of domestic sheep from Switzerland. It was actually originated in the Valais region of Switzerland.  They enjoy interacting with humans and make great pets.

See here for more information about the breed

Stan and Ollie joined us at the farm in March 21 at just a few weeks old. They have been bottle fed and are very friendly indeed. Our spaniel puppy plays with them and joins them in their pen and they follow us around the farm whilst we are doing our chores. These two started our love affair with this breed and we had our first lamb born on the farm in April 22 and we plan to add more in the future.

Rescue Chickens

We have rescued some chickens from Homes4Hens

These chickens did not see much daylight for their first months of their lives and they now run around the farm free – the alpacas will guard the chickens from Mr Fox – even though the alpacas are sometimes chased by the hens and the hens win in a food fight!!

When they arrived at the farm, they were in a sorry state with hardly any feathers but they are now happy and healthy ladies who we hope are now living their best lives.

We may have some eggs for sale on the farm, if we have not eaten them all- contact us to see if we have any eggs for sale

Rescue Ducks

We have rescued some ducks from Homes4Hens

These ducks, like the chickens, did not see much daylight for their first months of their lives and they now run around the farm free – the alpacas will guard the ducks too from Mr Fox.

The ducks stay together as a pack and waddle around the fields of the farm exploring and foraging and having a paddle in their ponds when they feel like a dip.

Bees

Paul looks after some colonies of bees on the farm.  Bees are very important to us humans and we are trying to ensure that we keep as many bees as possible so they can keep being busy to help us humans.

We may have some honey for sale at the farm if we have had a good harvest.  Local honey is excellent for people with hay fever in their local area as it builds up resistance to the pollen.

See this link for how bees help us humans live a good life.

Contact us to see if we have any honey at the farm for sale.
